NFL Lockout – Who Wins the Most?

By | May 21, 2011

There is still no idea when precisely we are going to be actually playing football on the field, as the National Football League (NFL) lockout still in full effect. As the players have less time to practice and get ready for the 2011 season, it is a good time to look at the trickle-down effect that the lockout will have on other games.

If the lockout is not lifted soon, there are a lot of different things that can and will take place. It will squeeze whatever offseason there may be as it will be a long, hot, controversial summer. The teams will be forced to take a look at their own free agents and start courting them. They will buckle down such as Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, both of whom became free agents at the end of the 2011 season.

In an extended NFL lockout, NCAA football is the understandable winner. The entire nation would get a taste of what it is like to live in the South and Saturdays would rule the fall.

All American sports fans would sit down and watch hockey for the first time. They would be won over by the speed, beauty and hostility of the game without fail. Viewers would be taken in by the game’s rich history and they would learn the names of the players. Hockey would be king here, just like it is in Canada.

Baseball will own the sporting landscape, once the NBA and NHL playoffs wrap up. In July and August, as teams fight for the playoffs, the curiosity and impetus will build up. America’s pastime will be back in action.
